Hyphenated Americans per DavidMac

Also, anyone who uses the hyphenated-American words is obviously a racist. Does any other country on this planet use the hyphen to distinguish people of different races?

If black Americans are "African", shouldn't Canadians who emigrate to the states be called "Canadian-Americans"? Only racists need to distinguish people by calling them "African-Americans" or "Mexican-Americans" or "Japanese-Americans".

Once a person from Africa (an "African") gets US citizenship, he becomes an "American". To call him something else is pure racism.

Trial Lawyers, Any Lawyer for that Matter

It should be against the law for lawyers to serve in State and National Congress.

It is a conflict of interest to write laws for their own self interest that are not understandable except to other lawyers. If they insist on running and are elected, they should be stripped of their law licenses and have to learn a real trade.

Legislatures/ Congress should be like business, hire lawyers into a legal department. Just like the private sector, you need legal advice; you seek it from your legal department. They are there as a resource, not in charge of the process or the company.

Muslims in Our Midst

Via one of those anonymous emails.

"I've been trying to say this since 9-11 but you worry me. I wish you didn't. I wish when I walked down the streets of this country that I love, that your color and culture still blended with the beautiful human landscape we enjoy in this country. But you don't blend in anymore. I notice you, and it worries me.

I notice you because I can't help it anymore. People from your homelands, professing to be Muslims, have been attacking and killing my fellow citizens and our friends for more than 20 years now. I don't fully understand their grievances and hate but I know that nothing can justify the inhumanity of their attacks.

; On September 11, nineteen ARAB-MUSLIMS hijacked four jetliners in my country. They cut the throats of women in front of children and brutally stabbed to death others. They took control of those planes and crashed them into buildings killing thousands of proud fathers, loving sons, wise grandparents, elegant daughters, best friends, favorite coaches, fearless public servants, and children's mothers.

The Palestinians Celebrated, the Iraqis were overjoyed as was most of the Arab world. So I notice you now. I don't want to be worried. I don't want to be consumed by the same rage and hate and prejudice that has destroyed the soul of these terrorists. But I need your help. As a rational American, trying to protect my country and family in an irrational and unsafe world, I must know how to tell the difference between you, and the Arab/Muslim terrorist.

How do I differentiate between the true Arab/Muslim-Americans and the Arab/Muslims in our communities who are attending our schools, enjoying our parks, and living in OUR communities under the protection of OUR constitution, while they plot the next attack that will slaughter these same good neighbors and children?

The events of September 11th changed the answer. It is not my responsibility to determine which of you embraces our great country, with ALL of its religions, with ALL of its different citizens, with all of its faults. It is time for every Arab/Muslim in this country to determine it for me.

I want to know, I demand to know, and I have a right to know whether or not you love America. Do you pledge allegiance to its flag? Do you proudly display it in front of your house, or on your car?

Do you pray in your many daily prayers that Allah will bless this nation, that He will protect and prosper it? Or do you pray that Allah with destroy it in one of your "Jihads"? Are you thankful for the freedom that only this nation affords? A freedom that was paid for by the blood of hundreds of thousands of patriots who gave their lives for this country? Are you willing to preserve this freedom by paying the ultimate sacrifice? Do you love America ? If this is your commitment, then I need YOU to start letting ME know about it.

Your Muslim leaders in this nation should be flooding the media at this time with hard facts on your faith, and what hard actions you are taking as a community and as a religion to protect the United States of America.

No more benign overtures of regret for the death of the innocent because I worry about who you regard as innocent. No more benign overtures of condemnation for the unprovoked attacks because I worry about what is unprovoked to you. I am not interested in any more sympathy... I am only interested in action. What will you do for America - our great country -- at this time of crisis, at this time of war?

I want to see Arab-Muslims waving the AMERICAN flag in the streets. I want to hear you chanting "Allah Bless America " I want to see young Arab/Muslim men enlisting in the military. I want to see a commitment of money, time, and emotion to the victims of this butchering and to this nation as a whole. The FBI has a list of over 400 people they want to talk to regarding the WTC attack. Many of these people live and socialize in Muslim communities. You know them. You know where they are.

Hand them over to us, now! But I have seen little even approaching this sort of action. Instead I have seen an already closed and secretive community close even tighter. You have disappeared from the streets. You have posted armed security guards at your facilities.

You have threatened lawsuits. You have screamed for protection from reprisals.

The very few Arab/Muslim representatives that HAVE appeared in the media were defensive and equivocating. They seemed more concerned with making sure that the United States proves who was responsible before taking action. They seemed more concerned with protecting their fellow Muslims from violence directed towards them in the United States and abroad than they did with supporting our country and denouncing "leaders" like Khadafi, Hussein, Farrakhan, and Arafat.

If the true teachings of Islam proclaim tolerance and peace and love for all people then I want chapter and verse from the Koran and statements from popular Muslim leaders to back it up. What good is it if the teachings in the Koran are good and pure and true when your "leaders" are teaching fanatical interpretations, terrorism, and intolerance?

It matters little how good Islam SHOULD BE if large numbers of the world's Muslims interpret the teachings of Mohammed incorrectly and adhere to a degenerative form of the religion. A form that has been demonstrated to us over and over again. A form whose structure is built upon a foundation of violence, death, and suicide. A form whose members are recruited from the prisons around the world. A form whose members (some as young as five years old) are seen day after day, week in and week out, year after year, marching in the streets around the world, burning effigies of our presidents, burning the American flag, shooting weapons into the air. A form whose members convert from a peaceful religion, only to take up arms against the great United States of America, the country of their birth. A form whose rules are so twisted, that their traveling members refuse to show their faces at airport security checkpoints, in the name of Islam.

Do you and your fellow Muslims hate us because our women proudly show their faces in public rather than cover up like a shameful whore? Do you and your fellow Muslims hate us because we drink wine with dinner, or celebrate Christmas? Do you and your fellow Muslims hate us because we have befriended Israel , the ONLY FRIENDLY CIVILIZED SOCIETY in the Muslim/Arab area, that thinks and acts like most Americans.

if you and your fellow Muslims hate us, then why in the world are you even here? Are you here to take our money? Are you here to undermine our peace and stability? Are you here to destroy us? If so, I want you to leave. I want you to go back to your desert sandpit where women are treated like rats and dogs. I want you to take your religion, your friends, and your family back to your Islamic extremists, and STAY THERE! We will NEVER give in to your influence, your retarded mentality, your twisted, violent, intolerant religion.

We will NEVER allow the attacks of September 11, or any others for that matter, to take away that which is so precious to us: Our rights under the greatest constitution in the world. I want to know where every Arab/ Muslim in this country stands and I think it is my right and the right of every true citizen of this country to demand it. A right paid for by the blood of thousands of my brothers and sisters who died protecting the very constitution that is protecting you and your family. I am demanding you to let me know! I want you here as my brother, my neighbor, my friend, as a fellow American. But there can be no gray areas or ambivalence regarding your allegiance and it is up to YOU, to show ME, where YOU stand." "Until then .. you worry me"

George Soros, the democrat's pet rock

NAZI COLLABORATOR in his native Hungary during the 1940's, perhaps the correct spelling of his name is George Soreazz.

Just why does George Soros have such a sore a** toward the United States?

Saddam Hussein-rest in pieces (rot in peace)

From a someone else's post, source long lost, but expresses my thoughts perfectly.

Psychopathic mass murderer, user of poison gas against innocents, torturer, despot, one-time hired assassin, indulgent and enabling father to psychopathic offspring, displacer of populations, (and, incidentally, massive embezzler, but that's trivial in comparison) Saddam Hussein, hung.

I only have one problem with Saddam Hussein's execution.

They could only do it once.

It's amazing how much outrage there is over the execution of a tyrant, compared to how some politicians and some media responded to the horrific beheading deaths of relative innocents like Daniel Pearl, Nick Berry, Paul Johnson, Eugene Armstrong, and Jack Hensley, not to mention the murder of aid worker Margarer Hassan, who dedicated her life to helping the Iraqui people.

Nor have I seen much outrage in some quarters about the daily murder of thousands of innocent Iraquis each day by car bombs. It's quite something, too, to see groups of Iraquis protesting how Saddam was executed, when many of these same people are behind the car bombings and the gruesome videotaped beheadings.

Democrats in Charge of the Military

With apologies to the original author in England

Thank you for calling the United State Army. I'm sorry, but all our units are out at the moment, or are otherwise engaged. Please leave a message with your country, name of organization, the region, the specific crisis and a number at which we can call you. As soon as we have sorted out Kosovo, Bosnia, Macedonia, Serbia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Northern Ireland, Sierra Leone, The Congo, marching up and down our parade fields and compulsory health and safety at work training, we will return your call.

Please speak after the tone or, if you require more options, listen to the following options:

a. If your crisis is small and close to the sea, press 1 for the Marines.

b. If your concern is distant, with a tropical climate, good hotels and can be solved by one or two low-risk bombing runs, please press 2 for the Air Force. (Please note that this service is not available after 1630 or weekends.)

c. If your inquiry concerns a situation which can be resolved by a warship, some bunting, flags, a damn good cocktail party and a first class marching band, please write, well in advance, to the Director of Naval Operations, The US Navy, Washington DC.

Thank you for calling and if you are interested in joining the Army (please, please, please, although retention is fine and we are right up to strength) and wish to be liberalized, paid little, have premature arthritis, put your wife and family in a condemned hut miles from civilization; and are prepared to work your socks off day and night whilst watching the Treasury eroding your original terms and conditions and promising a better pension, serving mainly in sandy climes, whilst picking up rubbish and putting out house fires all over the world; then please stay on the line. Your call will shortly be passed onto a bitter, passed-over Recruiting Sergeant in a horrendously fronted, little office down by the mall.

Have a nice day and thank you again for trying to contact The US Army.

Career Bureaucrats (boneless wonders)

In my world there would be a limited number of career bureaucrats. The remainder would be supplied from National Service with a maximum of two years of service before being relieved.

Government Regulations

From Walter Williams

The late Professor Milton Friedman said, "Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself." Some people justify their calls for protectionism by claiming that they're for free trade but fair trade. That's nonsense.

Think about it: When I purchased my Lexus from a Japanese producer, through an intermediary, I received what I wanted. The Japanese producer received what he wanted. In my book, that's a fair trade.

Of course, an American auto producer, from whom I didn't purchase my car, might whine that it was unfair. He would like Congress to impose import tariffs and quotas to make Japanese-produced cars less attractive and available in the hopes that I'd buy an American-produced car.

In my book, that would be unfair.

Fairness Doctrine for the Democrats

My contempt for Congress and Democrats in particuar is manifest and, frankly, justified.

I detest the Democratic word games. "Fairness" doctrine, "campaign finance reform."

Anytime I see a Democratic named proposal, I can guarantee the details are not what the title suggests. It is reliably always the opposite. At least the "hush Rush doctrine" is more descriptive

For Democrats call their Fairness Doctrine an attempt to provide the people, that's me, with fair and balanced makes them a LIAR by OMMISSION.

The First Amendment protects the "right of the people"-not the "right of people who can afford teams of lawyers, accountants, and disclosure specialists."

This arrogant liberal mindset is what has troubled conservatives for years.

It's not just that the mainstream media have presented a monolithic liberal message; it's that they deny their bias and purport to be completely objective in their selection and reporting of the news and commentary.

At least with conservative talk, the hosts admit their bias and are honest about when they are editorializing.

Vietnam Facts and Democrats

1. The Tet Offense of 1968 was crushed so severely by the US/SVN forces that the VC were no longer a threat and would not be for the rest of the war.

2. Three NVA divisions of hard-core regulars were annihilated by Marines and Army forces in Hue City and in the Central Highlands.

3. Chronkite called that a loss.

4. The NVA were unable to mount another serious offense until the Easter Offensive in 1972. Even WITHOUT massive US troop support, the SNV forces and US airstrikes crushed the NVA yet again. They would not be able to mount another offensive until 1975.

5. In 1975, the SVN was still able to holdback the NVA and gain ground in several areas but the lack of support from the US, both moral and financial, caused the loss of will.

6. General Giap's memoirs bear out the fact that the NVA were THROUGH in 1968 but they gained courage from the anti-war idiots back in the states and THAT kept them in the fight. (Try reading it.)

New tax on "big oil".

You said this won't cost me, the consumer, anything.

Are you lacking in mental capacity? Companies pass the cost on to the consumer, that's me.

Suggest you get some training in basic accounting.

Hope this dies in the Senate.

Giving Votes to Territories

Just reporting it, I didn't write this.

Finally, the Pelosi House of Representatives is scheduled to vote this week on a rule change that will give non-members of the House a vote. The change would give the right to vote on the House floor to the five delegates from American Samoa, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.

You've probably already guessed the reason: Four out of the five are Democrats. But here's something you might not have considered: The Pelosi bill also makes a mockery of one person, one vote.

The average congressional district has about 630,000 people. But the Pelosi bill would give an equal vote to American Samoa, which is 91 percent smaller than the average state congressional district.

What's even more outrageous is that American Samoa pays no federal taxes. So what the House voting change amounts to is representation without taxation -- which would be great, if we could all have it. But as it stands, the Pelosi bill makes your vote only 1/10th as important as the people living in tax-free American Samoa. It is the same territory Pelosi tried to exclude from the minimum wage bill that just passed the Pelosi House.

This is profoundly wrong. There are no provisions for the territories' cancelling the votes of states. There is a process for becoming a state, and to have full power in the American system you have to be in a state.

The Democrats tried this same gimmick in 1993. You can read my floor speech from that time here (javascript:ol('http://paracom.paramountcommunication.com/ct/ct.php?t%3d1122904%26c%3d1047442107%26m%3dm%26type%3d1%26h%3d72FB65405D4161CF62397329CCF9C044');). We promptly took it out of the rules when we were sworn in in 1995.
