The ancient Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said, "The more laws and order are made prominent, the more thieves and robbers there will be."
With that as a given, every other year, law passing bodies should spend the entire legislating session reviewing and unpassing laws.
All laws should be written using readability software, none written beyond level 10. I'm tired of lawyers writing the law, so only a lawyer can figure out what is being said. As for a I am concern, lawyers running for law making bodies is a conflict of interest and should be "outlawed". If not outlawed they should have to surrender their law licenses to never be allowed to practice after they leave public office.
I have seen this kind of double dealing with the National Electrical Code. People get on the commitees to write elements of the Code, then after the Code is updated, they hire themselves out as Consultants to help people interpret the Code they themselves wrote. Unethical, conflict of interest.
